The BRIC - Jean-Louis IMBS & The Bearfriends

BECOME A VOLUNTEER AT THE BEAR CENTRE

THE FACILITY
The BRIC is a private owned, not-for-profit facility, where the Stewart Bear & Salmon Interpretive Centre Society (registered in Victoria BC) welcomes visitors from all over the world to offer educational programs, and promotes bear conservation and research projects.

JOBS DESCRIPTION

Running THE BRIC in the first place, its almost like running a shop :-): open in time in the morning, do some cleaning, feed the little salmons, print photos for the giftshop, do some computer work.
Of course its more than this: once visitors show up, YOU are the person visitors want to talk to!
You invite them to watch the educational programs, you explain our conservation and research programs, and try to raise interest and support in bear and ecosystem conservation.

AS A BIOLOGIST, you love the fieldwork, collecting bear evidence like scat and hair, wich takes place in rough country and sometimes harsh climate.
You bring a very good team spirit and you love the camplife.

YOUR PROFILE
As a volunteer at The BRIC, you have to have a strong comittment to conservation issues.

To run the facility, you bring your "edutainement" skills and lots of energy to run the operation for the time being, usually one month.
Be prepared to welcome up to 100 people a day and answer their questions. June is usually slow, july and august is high season, and september is slowing down again.
